Orange Juice Infused Angel Food Cake Recipe




Today’s recipe is an ever so fluffy Orange Juice Infused Angel Food Cake Recipe. When I think of Angel Food Cake, I think of the light, fluffy, oh so airy, perfect sponge-like texture, cloud-like goodness of a cake that it’s almost heavenly! {Insert choirs of angels singing}. I guess you can tell that I am a true lover of Angel Food Cakes, huh :/ With that being said, I am over the moon excited to share with you this Orange Juice infused Angel Food Cake Recipe! I mean, I love citrus flavored anything already, so orange juice infused with the goodness of Angel Food Cake is just – DIVINE!

…vintage recipe, dating back to the late 19th Century

This recipe is a must-try. It is a vintage recipe, dating back to the late 19th Century. The Original Angel Food Cake or a variation of it was revered as a brides cake in that era as many brides were tasked with learning how to make that particular cake before the wedding. Over time, many variations of the cake came about – thus giving birth to the multitude of variations available today.

Today, I’ll be sharing with you one of those variations for a Knock Your Socks Off Orange Juice Infused Angel Food Cake Recipe!

Knock Your Socks Off Orange Juice Infused Angel Food Cake Recipe!

Ingredients:

1 1/4 cups egg whites

1 1/2cups sifted granulated sugar

1 tsp orange juice

Orange zest from 1 small orange

1 cup sifted flour

1 tbsp cold water

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp cream of tartar

Directions:

Sift flour once and measure

Sift flour combined with 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar together an additional 4 times add in salt

Combine orange juice, orange zest, and water and let sit aside.

Whip eggs until they are just foamy (Use room temperature eggs for best results)

add cream of tartar and continue whipping until they form a peak

Add 1 cup granulated sugar by sprinkling it over the egg whites in batches.

Whip each addition.

Gently fold in the flour-sugar mixture and orange juice mixture until all is combined

Fold over whit a flat spatula to avoid whipping out the air

Pour batter into an ungreased baking pan

Fill pan only 1/2 full with batter

Bake at 325 degrees for about one hour

Invert pan and let the cake cool on a baking wire

Cool completely before topping with glaze, fruit, or powdered sugar
