Quick Tip – How To Measure Flour The Right Way

Measuring flour can be tricky but is such an important step to master. We all know that in following a recipe, it’s important to get the consistency of the batter correct. This quick tip will shed some light on strategies to apply to measuring flour easily, quickly, and correctly every time.

Stir flour lightly with a fork

Spoon flour into a cup. Do not use the cup as a scoop or shake or tap a full cup.

Level off the top with a straight edge or a knife

And there you have it, the best way to measure flour with a measuring cup. However, I switched to a food scale for this very reason. I found it so much easier to get an accurate amount and measurement using a food scale. It is much easier to weigh out 200 grams of flour for example than it is to sift and spoon into a measuring cup 1 3/4 cups of flour.
