Ingredients

12 cupcakes made from your favorite recipe or boxed mix

3 to 4 cups blue frosting (Pictured: Pillsbury Funfetti Aqua Blue Vanilla Frosting, 15.6-Ounce)

12 Rolo Chewy Caramels, unwrapped

12 Ghirardelli Chocolate Squares, unwrapped (Pictured: Ghirardelli Dark & Sea Salt Square Caramel Chocolate, 5.32 Oz.)

¼ cup yellow frosting (Pictured: Wilton Yellow Icing Pouch with Tips, 8oz)

Star Sprinkles (Similar: Star Sugar Sprinkles)

Instructions

  1. Place blue frosting in a piping bag fitted with a 2A icing tip. Pipe frosting in a layer on cupcakes in a spiral motion creating a small mound in the center.
  2. On the smooth side of each chocolate square, pipe a curved line to represent the tassel. Add a small dot to the middle.
  3. Use frosting to attach one Rolo candy to each chocolate square. (The frosting will not be seen once pressed into the cupcake so the color does not matter.) Press the candy into the top of the cupcake.
  4. Add sprinkles around the candy.

I wish that I had found these Easy Graduation Dessert Ideas when I graduated. Don’t wish, Do! There’s no reason not to because the step-by-step directions are right here…

My Story

When I graduated several years ago with my undergraduate degree, I had no party, no celebration or anything. Partly because I didn’t want to incur the extra expense. I was pregnant with my first child, my daughter, in fact, she was due only six weeks from my graduation date.  So fast forward a few more years, when I graduated with my graduate degree, I celebrated. I mean, not a full-fledged celebration but I rented a venue, and invited many friends, we had BBQ, cakes, music, it was nice. Looking back, how sweet would it have been to have a graduation cupcake tower and give everyone a little graduation cupcake treat to bring home as a thank you gift.

These Easy Graduation Dessert cupcakes are so easy because they can be made simply using either a box mix or a favorite cake recipe.

Graduation dinners are a big deal where I am from. It’s the time where the family members that weren’t able to come to the graduation can come out to the dinner and show their support for your graduate.

Fast-forward to now, I’m being invited to graduation dinners and of course, you can’t go empty-handed. So, guess what’ll accompany me this graduation season. These Easy Graduation Dessert cupcakes are so easy because they can be made simply using either a box mix or a favorite cake recipe. I recommend my simple Easy as 1-2-3-4 cake recipe here for its simplicity.

I’ve linked many of the items in this post to Amazon because the 2-day delivery with Prime has me HOOKED! I mean it’s like Christmas every time a package comes in and the kids LOVE playing with the boxes so – win/win!
